Go Marauders!

With 18 NCAA Division II athletic teams, Mary offers you ample opportunity to participate in and attend sporting activities throughout the school year. Whether you’re an athlete yourself, or a fan, you’ll love how Marauders athletics contributes to campus life. If you aren’t a sports fan yet, you will be!

The University of Mary is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and offers ten varsity sports for women and eight for men. Mary became an active member of the NCAA in 2007. The process took only three years after the NCAA waived the final two provisional years, making the University of Mary's transition to active membership one of the quickest in the organization's history. The Marauders began competing in the NSIC in the fall of 2006.

This premier program is led by one of the top coaches in the country, Hall of Famer, USTFCCCA National Coach of the Year, and winner of 23 NSIC championships, University of Mary Head Track and Field and Cross Country Coach Dennis Newell. He has continued the winning tradition of another legendary head coach, Hall of Famer Mike Thorson.

Greatness Through Virtue

We launched our strategic plan, Greatness Through Virtue, which details our mission to create a department-wide culture committed to individual and collective greatness through virtuous leadership. It’s our game plan to become the preeminent intercollegiate athletic department for developing the greatness within each human person through the practice of virtue and the formation of authentic friendships. We are pursuing greatness through virtue – for life.
